Counting our blessings...
We were all in the car on the way to Bekah's party last night, and the car went off the road. We had been in the high speed lane, so we were straddling the pavement and the dirt on the left. Rumble rumble rumble for a couple seconds, then Frank saw a drop-off coming up, so he applied the brakes. Since we still had two wheels on the pavement, the car gripped there and spun sharply right, back onto the busy highway.
To quote Frank, "I've never slid sideways that fast down a highway before."
He fought hard to keep the car from turning over, and he managed to straighten out and barely miss a white SUV who had to swerve into the break-down lane.
After the adrenaline wore off a bit, I said to Frank, "Next time we're about to die, could you please say something like, 'I love you guys' instead of 'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!'" (We had to ask the kids to stop repeating that after awhile.)
So all passengers and the vehicle are in fine working order.
