Arrrgh the FF.net submission pages are glitched and have not been working all day while I finally got my 7th chapter down - and it's cool! But no, this shit has to happen now.
But I get to use this new icon - so heh!
Why am I psyched about this chapter? It took over 2 weeks to finally get a version that is generally satisfying. I scrapped like 4 or 5 different situations and scenarios but this time I took the point of view of a character I didn't really "build" too much, and that would be the 14 year old black girl that the other characters kind of hate. I was always irritated about being fucking slow at this point so I got careful with self-insertion and she turned out okay. My only worry was that she could appear a little too smart at times for the sake of accelerating things... It's about 3,800 words and I chopped off a lot, and there's a seemingly useless part where Jusik is teaching her gun handling (uh oh) but I can't write short stuff. I love showing details and getting immersed in the life of fictionary people. The things that I got vague about was the human interaction because too much describing sends the wrong message.
On a brighter note, I watched two flicks on this lazy Sunday: Lakeview Terrace and Role Models.
Lakeview Terrace, starring Samuel L. Jackson
I didn't like Mace "Party's Over" Windu and Sam Jackson was in every fucking movie for like a decade and that got to my nerves. If you've seen the psycho-horror movie
1408 you get my interpretation of his acting skills in a nutshell. BUT, Jackson really nails the part in Lakeview and he is pretty scary! The issues revolving around "reverse racism" are really well illustrated without being too obviously in-your-face and Jackson's character renders a subtlety that borders on psychomania, or sociopathy. If I ever move into a house in his neighborhood I would kill myself. Or not move there at all, duh!
Now Role Models, starring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott.
There's something that annoys the hell out of me about Seann William Scott but I can't quite put my finger on it. Paul Rudd on the other hand is a little more enjoyable, maybe because I'm quite the cynical person myself and he's always pissed about something in all of his roles (that I know of) and I'd like to point out that he loves saying Shit. But he doesn't say it in this movie yet it was still very enjoyable. It's an all around hilarious comedy, perhaps not suitable for minors for the partial nudity and very, very crude language. I want to say that Jane Lynch really made this movie go from hilarious to pee-my-pants-and-clap-stupidly-hilarious, it's rare that a female actress can be so funny. So I'm gonna stress that again: Jane Lynch is my new hero :D
