So, on Friday I went to my first ever drive-in movie and it was soooo much fun!
The movie in question was The Skeleton Key...you know...that movie that has a 'twist' at the end almost as good as the 'twist' at the end of The Sixth Sense?
Well, that supposed 'twist' wasn't really that big of a suprise.
I believe that the fetus in the jar was FAR more suprising than the ending.
Anyway, I went to the drive-in with Chris, Kim, Tiffanie, Arielle, Tyler, another Chris I really didn't know, and a girl...I forget her name, but I didn't know her either.
We all agreed that the movie blew big balls.
However, there were the particular highlights of the evening that I found quite endearing:
1) The sluggish drive to the drive-in that I was dreading due to the sluggish pace of the traffic on the freeway wasn't all that bad. Of course, good company helps (namely Kim and Tyler). Kim and I discussed plans for Dendirk while Tyler hid beneath a blanket looking slightly like Yoda or Obi-Wan...some kind of Jedi.
2) Finally arriving at the drive-in only to be told to drive in the middle lane. So we started singing/chanting 'This is the middle, the middle, the middle of our story. The middle, the middle...' (If you didn't catch it, that's from an episode of Animaniacs.)
3) Unnecessarilly, going 'off-roading' over perilously cemented bumps/hills only to arrive, backwards, with an alarming 'Crunch'.
4) Realizing that although we had good seats and a bed of a truck to sit in (or under) comfortably, we had no working radio to hear the movie...oh well...we managed.
5) The journey to the snack shop that reminded me more of a homeless shelter than anything else.
6) The journey to the bathroom where the toilet informed me that God loved me and that I had PMS...also a child's voice in the stall next to mine kept asking its mother to 'Wipe my (its) butt.'
7)During the movie, the couple in the car next to us thought it would be a good idea to smoke marijuana. We all started giggling...whether it was a result of the marijuana or just at the absurdity of the movie, that's hard to say.
8) The fetus
9) The return to the freeway after the movie and reminiscing about old television shows (Eek the cat, Freakazoid, Doug, Rugrats when it was cool, Animaniacs, etc.)
It was a fun night and I wanna do it again sometime.
