An Old Friend

Oct 03, 2003 23:02

Today was a very good day.
I woke up surprisingly early (ten o'clock if you must know) and I sat about all alone because mom got a job at Stein Mart.
It was rather nice having the house to myself...I woke up smiling....
Anyway, at 2:30 I went to PetsMart for my interview and it went well, besides having blood shot eyes, it went very well. The manager I spoke with today was much kinder and less agravating than the one I put up with yesterday.
I was told after the interview to expect a call sometime this week so I'm pretty excited about that.
By the time I got home, mother had returned and I ventured upstairs to hide away from the world when I got a call asking if I could babysit today and tomorrow.
I said sure...and then Dan called and when mom handed me the phone she said, oh so pathetically, "Oh, I forgot to tell you. Chris called."
I rolled my eyes and the slammed the door in her face.
Saddened and distraught I couldn't get together with my friends whom I haven't spoken to in what seems like eons....
Welp, after babysitting I recieved another call from Dan who had been confused by my little brother Blaine, who aparently told him I wasn't available or something to that effect.
Moving along, Dan, Dana, Morgan, Chris, and Kim came over, but, alas, Dana and Morgan had to leave due to Dana's confounded curfew.
Strangely, a short while after dana and Morgan had vanished and after Kim waved to the wrong car (Bursts out laughing at the memory and apologizes to Kim to avoid a repremanding glare), a police car drives slowly by.
I knew it was my old friend, the police officer who is waiting patiently for the day he catches me or any other member of my family using 'fireworks' and the day when Brent's old car gets towed.
So, he drives by and at first I don't think too much of it, but then the car turns around and comes back and drives past us again at a terribly slow speed...glug, glug, glug....
Kim, Dan, Chris, and I burst out laughing at the absurdity of the officer's behavior and, suddenly, the car turns around again and parks, with the headlights on I might add, in front of my neighbor's driveway.
From where we were standing, we couldn't see the cop car from beyond the bushes in my front yard, but if he was at all attempting to be stealth, his plans were foiled because his engine was running and his head lights were on, as I've stated before, and it was so funny.
We all tried to act natural, but we kept laughing and I guess to anyone watching we looked high.
Eventually my neighbors came home and were all worried and panicked because the cop was parked in front of their driveway and it just so happens that they were robbed a few days ago...weird how thing work out, eh?
So, yeah, the cop car moves up slowly...glug, glug, glug...to another curb and i guess he thought he was pretty stealth or something because he was now hidden behind the van's mass and we, once again, couldn't see him, but we started cracking up again and eventually he drove off only to return again to check up on the convicts who live down the street.
Alden's friend stopped by and we scared her and Alden came home and we told him the story, not that he really cared, but I told him anyway, and he and his friend drove off to Denny's.
So, the rest of the night we were paranoid about the cop coming back and it came to the point where we actually WANTED the cop to come back!
Chris then began climbing up to Blaine's window and scared Mavis and then suggested we make the rafters above the front door a club house or something and I thought that was a good idea, but my mom would never go for it.
Yeah, it was much fun, and then I insisted on driving them home, just in case the cop was there and he was waiting to catch them for curfew and yeah, now I'm sitting here typing to amuse those of you who were there, those of you who weren't, and my own bad memory.
THE END

dan, mom's jobs, chris, job search, police, babysitting, kim
