Not Inspired Enough to Think Up A Clever Subject

Could've spent $286.85 for textbooks on campus.
Bought them on-line for $219.88.
Saved $66.97.
Very pleased.

Alden graduated from UCI. We drove out there in my mom's little Rav-4.
While I thought it was fun, everyone else seemed to think it was a drag.
We stopped at a few gas stations along the way. The most memorable, however, was one in Baker, CA charging $5.50 per gallon. I made the mistake of using their shabby bathroom. I swear, I could've potentially picked up a dozen diseases from the toilet seat.
That's how gross it was. *shudder*
We stayed at the same hotel we had for Neal and Wendy's wedding and we ate for free, thanks to the left over meal money Alden still had to his credit at UCI. The graduation was like any other, really. It was exciting though because I had never been to a college graduation. The soon-to-be graduates tossed around beach balls and, believe it or not, tortillas while the members of the board lined up to read their boring as hell speeches about bright futures and awaiting career choices. There were several individuals lined up along the sidelines waiting to take confiscate the beach balls and tortillas. When they did, however, the graduates and the families in attendance would boo and hiss.
The night prior to Alden's graduation he was worried because he didn't have his printer for his laptop with him and he had forgotten to print out the official slip with his name on it for the announcer to read. He paid eight dollars to use to hotel lobby computer/printer. However, even though he had handed the announcer his name slip, which cleary said 'Alden Wilhem Holmes', the announcer, stupid as mud, exclaimed, "Andrew Holmes'. And we're like, "HUH?" Alden, always chipper, could've cared less. He was just happy to graduate.
Afterwards, I mentioned to Wendy that I was thinking of cutting my hair and she, being a cosmetologist, pounced. "Really?" she asked sweetly. She cut off a good ten inches (which I plan to donate) and gave me a bob. I actually like it. A lot. So it's here to stay for awhile.
To celebrate Alden's graduation, we went to Alden's favorite beachside spot (nearly being swallowed by the incoming tide), ate at the Cheesecake Factory, and went to Disneyland bright and early the following day.
Disneyland was fantastic, as always, but by noon I was feeling a bit dead. I think it was a combination of a lack of sleep, of feeling rushed, and of discovering that one of Wendy's sisters had recently suffered a pretty serious accident. But, yes, later on at Disneyland a few of Tyler's friends including Dan Clarke showed up. At the time (and presently still), I felt bad because, at that point, my mood was so rotten I wasn't much fun. I feel like I disappointed everyone.
That evening at the hotel Brent asked if I had brought my tarot deck. I said no and he said, "Too bad. Do you remember how you used to look at the cards and read my fortune? I liked that." That really made me smile and I promised that were he and Jen to come out and visit, I'd read his cards.
The following day, we left back to Colorado.
The trip back was as much fun as the trip out.
However, I missed a few photo opportunities I had intended to take advantage of on the return trip. Dinky signs along the 15-N spewing the ten commandments, a sign to a town called Wild Wash (to which we kids recalled the words on Disney's Thunder Mountain Railroad, "Hold on to your hats 'cause this here's the Wildest Wash in the wilderness! Yipee!"), etc.
When our adventure was finished, I picked up my little darlings (AKA=the ferrets) at the vet and prepared myself for work the next day. Overall, the trip was a grand thing.
