My eleven-year-old pug is having a terrible time with ear infections. The latest plan by the vet was to start him on a hypoallergenic diet (royal canin potato and duck light) in addition to ear treatement because the newest research is that chronic ear problems may be the result of food allergies. Well, he didn't tolerate the potato and duck at all. He stopped eating and starting drinking massive quanitites of water (and he peed in his bed). It was very reminiscent of our poodle right before she was diagnosed as diabetic. (no eating and lots of drinking.) I actually think he lost a little weight.
We stopped the food and went back to the regular food. I have to call the vet tomorrow. Does anyone have any ideas for alternate treatments for ear infections? I'm using the Triz-EDTA as a wash, waiting thirty minutes and then using Baytril.
