The slow boat to China...

Gaak. I still can't decide if I love or absolutely frigging abhor Hong Kong. The crowds. The food. The crowds. The shopping. The fact that everything is just generally faster.
And then, there's the travelling...

What should have been a nice, leisurely hop over to Hong Kong (4 1/2 hours flight time, 3 hours travelling and hanging around in Duty Free on both ends) just took me closer to 10. On the plus side, the rent on the apartment here runs out at the end of September, so I've still got nice digs to chill out in. On the minus side, what should have been a leisurely weekend jaunt packing up the stuff that I still have here, with a little shopping and dining thrown in on the side is suddenly looking a lot less attractive, considering the sheer hassle involved in the travelling.

Depending on what legislation gets pushed through as an "emergency measure", trips to the US might be put on hold indefinitely.. (unless of course the cost of plane tickets take a massive dive to compensate...). Its not the 100% checks at airport security. Its not even the increased waiting time. Its the fact that I can't bring aboard my usual complement of books and music! And yes, I'm spoilt..

And this was just, for all intents and purposes, just a short hop. I shudder to think how I'll handle longer flights...
