I'm an insomniac. Especially without classes. So there I was in my living room at 4 AM, having been alone here for about three days. I look out the window and I see the last thing a person locked up in an empty apartment for three days wants to see:

God bless digital zoom. In this photo, actually, the cat had just spotted me and was staring at me.

I'll admit it, I'm a closeted superstitious guy, and my (unending) run-ins with a rabbit has made me think about animals as spiritual forces. Crazy? Yes, yes it is. But scary in this case. I run back to Hans to put the new pictures of the black cat on his hard drive when I hear an awful (and unmistakably audible) cry. Womanlike, to recall my first impressions. My mind still on the black cat, I look out the living room window to find my little black friend had moved directly outside my building's entrance...

...and brought a friend. They had been fighting, and suddenly broke it up when I got my camera. This is why I'd never make it as a photojournalist.

Now 4:25 AM, the cats have left the spot and I haven't heard any more cat cries. Their tracks are visible in the patch of snow outside the door.

And in other news, I can't multitask:
