Oh, and just because I saw lots of censoring today....
I hate it when people delete comments. Saw it on LJ today, happening to me, and on another forum I'm on, happening to someone else. What was funny about the latter was that it was a comment in response to people testing to see if they could post after being banned, and it named one particular person who is quite a jerk, and said he was a mod and therefore deleted anything and banned anyone that attacked him or strongly challenged anything he said, while he left his crap up. And within a short period of time, that comment alone was deleted, proving that indeed it was the jerk-as-mod who was behind a lot of that.
I have noticed that usually the people who delete comments either wrote a fucking stupid post, are total tools, or have serious control issues. And often the comments they delete point out how much of a mo-mo or tool they are (though sometimes any hint of disagreement with the poster can bring out the censor in them), and instead of letting free speech take care of the rest, they just erase the words of others, because clearly it is much better for their egos to continue believing that they are just that awesome, rather than improve the quality of their posts or straighten out their issues or just recognize that there will always be some dissent.
If someone ever wrote a comment in opposition to a post of mine, perhaps even if it was a kinda jacked up comment, inasmuch as it was directed at the content of my writing I would leave it there. Maybe I wouldn't bother to comment to it, maybe I would, depending on the circumstances.
But truly, if you are so fucking awesome, I'm sure the comments will be overwhelmingly in your favor, ignoring the naysayer, or people would start to attack the person who wrote the "offensive" comment. When a poster deletes a comment, they show how weak they really are.
Douchebags. They take away the beauty of the internet as a place of free exchange and of humor.
