Gender roles

I have recently gotten quite annoyed with a specific subject- gender roles. Now I am fairly traditional when it comes to the roles a man and woman should play, but I think the hard and fast rules about who can do what type of tasks is ridiculous. Well, my Dad did have a time in his life when he stopped virtually everything that was important to him and changed to something completely different. He had spent his entire life as a dancer and was into the whole drinking/partying scene, but then it all changed. This was before I knew him, but he did change quite a bit. He traded the unsteady show life for a more steady computer job, and stopped doing a lot of the things that were important to him. He has added quite a bit of new things to his list of stuff he does, too since I've known him. I think it's important for people to continue to try new things. But anyway- the changes that happened came at a certain part in his life that I am almost reluctant to mention here, but I will anyway. He started changing when he met my mom. Then he changed a lot more after he became a Christian. But anyway, I see nothing wrong with change, and that's not what I was talking about in my post. Mine was related to gender roles, and just that. But I also find there to be nothing wrong with a sudden change in someone's life as long as they know who they are, what they want, and are happy with the decisions they have made- AND that no one forced those new ideas on them. Sorry this is so random, but my mind isn't working very well right now. I will clarify if neccissary.
