Well, it's been a while since I last wrote an entry.
Much has changed.
My job is now long gone. It went downhill since my first day and I was not willing to sacrifice school for it. I'm happy to be out of there. I recently walked by and I saw him at his desk screaming on the phone - the usual.
I no longer live in stupid rez. I now live in a wonderful little apartment with my roommate, amanda. The place is in this great building on the corner of Sherbrooke and Vendôme. It's basically in downtown Westmount. It feels like I live in a smaller town, yet I have everything that I need near me. Any street in the neighborhood is lined with big trees and there are two amazing parks near my house.
We have wooden squeaky floors and the cleanest bathroom I have seen in Montreal. Most of the other places we saw had disastrous ones.
Campus right now is beautiful. All the trees are turning red. It's perfect scarf weather. As always, I do not have a boyfriend, so I need these massive, hard trees more than ever.
My classes are wonderful. I am taking Realism and Impressionism, Visual Culture of Renaissance Venice, African-American and Black Diasporic Art, Academies of Art, and German. Most of my prof. are really cool.
My African-American professor is a bit bias. She really makes you feel shitty for being white and European. She will sometimes say stuff that is just a bit too much. For instance, she was lecturing on Edmonia Lewis, a lesbian native-african-american neo-classic sculptor (talk about a minority), and she was explaining her experiences in school. When she was at Oberland College, she was accused of poisoning two fellow students, and as my prof. put it: "She was beaten, tortured, thrown out in the snow, and left to DIE." Somebody asked who exactly had done this to her - the school admin ? the students ? She said it didn't matter and that the main point of the story was that she was segregated. She also forgot to mention that Edomia was re-admitted into the school, once she had resurrected I suppose.
Apart from school, I have also been trying to keep myself busy. Last week, I saw a ballet that was performed in the nude. It was very well done. The dances were reduced to their lowest evolutionary, sub-human state and would interact with each other in a very cold and hard way. Only one of the guys was hot, but whatever, I saw his penis. To my great surprise, I never became overly "excited."
Tonight, I went and saw the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble. It was alright. Sorry if I prefer harmony and continuity. Next week, I am going to the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
I just booked my flight for Switzerland for Christmas break. I leave on the 13th of december and come back on the 8th of January. I can't wait. Christmas in Switzerland is amazing. I can't wait to go to restaurants, family dinners, dinner parties, cocktail parties and all the rest. Aside from food, I can't wait to take walks through the wilderness, go to christmas markets, and spend evenings around a fire place with my family.
Anyways, I'm still single and hatting every second of it.
