Chapter 707:
Tom went to the cemetery on Arthur’s birthday with Eddie and his sister. They lit a candle like they did every year and remained silent for several minutes. It was still very hard for Tom to do this. Matilda and Eddie remained strong for him. They went to Arthur’s favourite pub after to celebrate his memory. Tom only had a couple of beers. As the days passed, Tom started gaining some weight now that he had the feeding tube. Henry noticed this improvement when he came home for Christmas. They went to the duplex. It was obvious Tom was a bit jealous of everyone eating their Christmas dinner when he couldn’t.
This jealousy progressed throughout January and into February. He missed eating but he didn’t bring it up to anyone until Josephine was packing to head to LA for the week that ran through Valentine’s Day and the week after. She was talking about food to Henry on the food and Tom finally said he missed eating. Josephine suggested he should look into ways to correct his problem. Tom took this seriously and made another appointment with Dr. Mason. He ran a bunch of tests then scheduled another appointment to go over them. Tom went to this second appointment and got good news.
“Your esophagus has weakened and collapsed, which is why you vomit when you attempt to eat,” Dr. Mason said, showing him the X-ray.
“Yeah…?” Tom asked.
“This is correctable but it requires surgery,” Dr. Mason said.
“I want to do it,” Tom said.
Eddie smiled. “Never thought you would hear an immediate yes, eh?”
Dr. Mason chuckled. “There is a first time for everything.”
He started explaining the surgery in more detail and the risks involved to Tom. He still wanted to go through with it. He would do anything for some normalcy in his life again. He had the surgery as soon as possible. Tom expected to have immediate results but he had to continue to use the G-tube while he had small solid things. He also completely lost his voice and it took a while to get it back. Eventually, he asked Eddie to make him a real meal. He was nervous about this but cooked something up anyway. He placed the plate in front of Tom and stood there with bated breathe. Tom started eating slowly. After five minutes and he didn’t vomit, Eddie smiled.
“Good?” Eddie asked.
“It’s bloody amazing,” Tom said with his mouth full. “Orgasm in my mouth.”
Eddie laughed. “I thought I burnt the chicken a bit but okay, love.”
“Oh, my god. You have no idea,” Tom said, swallowing. “It’s amazing.”
Eddie leaned over and kissed him. “I’m so happy.”
Tom grabbed Eddie’s shirt and pulled him closer. Eddie knocked over the plate with his arm by accident. He turned to see the mess he made.
“Forget it,” Tom said then kissed him passionately.
It was as if all rational thought left their minds. They didn’t think about the possibility of being caught or if it would harm Tom by doing it They were deeply satisfied for forgetting these things because it was the best sex they both had in a while. They laid on the floor of the dining room grinning after.
“We’re terrible,” Tom said, smiling.
“Yes but who cares?!” Eddie asked.
“What we just did…was exactly like something out of a romance novel,” Tom said.
“No. We have less class…it was straight out of a terrible p0rno film,” Eddie said, snickering.
“Duckie…where are the kids?” Tom asked, sitting up and grabbed his clothes.
“Upstairs,” Eddie said, waving his hand in a lazy manner.
“We need to get dressed before one of them come downstairs,” Tom said, standing up. He immediately started getting dress. Eddie sighed and did the same.
“What about the food?” Eddie asked.
Tom looked at it. “I’m tempted to eat it right off the floor.”
“Don’t you dare!” Eddie said, laughing. “I’ll smack you!”
“That’s hot,” Tom said, smirking.
Eddie snorted. “I’ll clean it up. You got upstairs and make sure the kids are okay.”
Tom nodded and went upstairs. As he walked towards Oliver’s room. He heard him talking.
“The man sticks his penis in a woman’s vagina,” Oliver said.
Tom quickly opened the door. “Oliver Sidney Sturridge!”
“Ooo, you in trouble,” Alex said, pointing at Oliver.
“Yes, he is in trouble,” Tom said. “That is not a conversation you should be having with your little brothers and sister!”
“Emily asked where babies come from!” Oliver said, crossing his arms.
“You lied,” Thomas said, pointing at Tom. “Oliver said there is no such thing as a magical baby fairy!”
Tom slapped his forehead. “Everyone to their separate rooms.”
The kids got up and separated. When Oliver attempted to leave, Tom stopped him.
“No more talks like that, Oliver,” Tom said. “They are not old enough yet.”
“I’m sorry,” Oliver said.
“Are you really?” Tom asked.
Oliver nodded.
“Our talk stays between us. When they are old enough, I or Henry or Mum will be the one to explain things to them, okay?” Tom asked.
“Okay,” Oliver said.
“Good. Now clean your room. It’s a mess,” Tom said.
Oliver groaned.
“Now,” Tom said, leaving the room. He went into Maddy’s room and took her out of the crib. He then brought her downstairs and over to Eddie. “Oliver was explaining where babies come from…the graphic explanation to Alex, Emily, and Thomas.”
Eddie held back a laugh. “That’s terrible!”
“Not funny,” Tom said, giving Eddie Maddy.
At the end of Josephine's trip she came back and had Henry with her. He had some time off but was going back when Tom was going to the Academy awards.
“Miss me?” Henry asked, grinning.
“Yes,” Tom said, smiling.
“Where are the kids? I want to see them!” Henry said.
“Upstairs,” Tom said. “With Eddie.”
Henry went upstairs and Josephine followed him. About a half an hour later Henry came back downstairs with Eddie.
“So, I heard the great news,” Henry said.
“I finally had mind blowing sex?” Tom asked.
“No…but wicked! About time!” Henry said, nodding. “But what I heard is you finally had solids again.”
“Yes…it was amazing,” Tom said.
“Everything is amazing. Even old crackers were amazing to him,” Eddie said.
“If you stop eating solid food for months you’d be the same way!” Tom said.
“I have some old crisps in my carry-on…want it?” Henry said then winked.
Tom laughed. “No!”
“I’m real happy for you, mate. Seems like things are looking up,” Henry said.
“I know,” Tom said.
“Pub?” Henry asked. “Celebratory drink-a-thon?”
“Yes! I’d love to,” Tom said.
“Wicked…I want to shower and nap first. Tonight though,” Henry said.
“Okay,” Tom said.
Henry went upstairs to clean and sleep. Eddie and Tom stayed downstairs. They decided to watch television until they went out.
