The Rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better ! If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate!
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

questions from xallanthia behind the cut.

1. If academia failed you (and I'm not in the least suggesting it will!), what would you do with your life?

having already given this some thought while contemplating worst-case scenarios of not getting into grad school *at all,* most likely an english-related field like magazine/journal editing. either that or translation -- presumably whatever I could find that way, though preferably more literary translation. I'd probably find myself focusing more on writing, as well.

2. You're locked in an enormous library and promised a million dollars if you can stay there for a week without touching a single book. What book would most tempt you to give up the money? Of course, this is an amazing library full of incredibly rare objects as well as more common fare...

if it existed? the necronomicon. XD but restricting my choices to stuff that might actually exist, the original letters/diaries/personal notes of various authors. also, drafts/manuscripts of books like les misérables, la recherche, and ulysses, just to get an idea of what the gestation of massive works like that is like. I'll probably think of other things as soon as I post this, too. that million would be a lost cause.

3. Once you've finished schooling, etc, where would you most like to live?

preferably still on the east coast, near or in a major city. I could envision staying in philly, but smaller, less-obvious cities could work, too. or smaller towns as long as they're interesting/offbeat/progressive -- in the event I stayed in the philly area, new hope would be high on my list of places to live.

4. You've been cursed! For the rest of your life, you will lose the ability to say either the word "yes" or the word "no;" this includes related words (yeah, nope, etc). (Of course, you retain the *concepts,* you just can't say the *word*) Which do you choose?

I think I'd rather keep "no," for various reasons. if nothing else, one could still get at what I want/need/whatever by playing some variation of twenty questions. that and there are some people who really just don't get the concept of "no" unless you more or less scream the word itself in their faces. so I think "no" would be a pretty valuable one to keep.

5. Which weeknight is your favorite?

friday night. friday nights tend to involve happy hour. I like happy hour. I also like the prospect of being able to actually sleep in the following day (or just sleep, period), regardless of possible hangovers.
