Game of Thrones livebloggish thing

Apr 17, 2011 23:19

So I am back in Baltimore for a few days, and was despairing because my parents don't have HBO, which cockblocks me from getting my hands on the first episode of Game of Thrones. But as luck would have it, HBO is free this weekend, so I got to watch the premiere after all! And I have Thoughts on it, as you do.

Have my real-time reactions to the episode! Spoilers for the episode, obviously. )

fandom: game of thrones/asoiaf, and there was much rejoicing, reaction shot

Tell me you've heard that HBO is picking up American Gods.

I'm just *A* between this announcement and GOOD OMENS AS A FOUR PART MINI-SERIES that it's damn near disgusting.

yep! Same team that's been doing all the PTerry adaptations for the past few years too (Hogfather, Colour of Magic etc.) I can't actually imagine it working any other way, and at least the spirit of the books will be in tact, plus my panic over the prose is pretty much at east.

Gaiman falls into the same category as ASOIAF when it comes to screen adaptations, honestly -- if you're going to do it, it better be on HBO, 'cause ain't no way you're going to get away with what you need to otherwise. So! I am cautiously excite!

Yeah, agreed with HBO or bust. It actually makes me cautiously hopeful for Anasi Boys too (in part because of The Wire). My dream would be for HBO to do The Sandman (uh, pun not intended), but...well. The less we say about the concept of the guy who made Supernatural getting his hands on The Sandman the better. There's profound swearing involved.

Now I'm starting to wonder how they'd break the book up into seasons or if it'd just be one long mini series though. 13 episodes can't plausibly be enough.

Oh oh oh! Uhm, Robert Richardson is attached as director! And that's all we really have so far!
