1. Why do you dislike #11 so much?
You know, Remus/Tonks is a bit like Buffy/Spike for me -- maybe I should've put it in the "three pairings I abandoned" category, but oh well. Anyway, I rather liked the idea of it until it happened in canon, at which point the execution was so failtastic that I threw my hands up. I hate what the romance does to both of them. It brings out the worst in Remus, and it sucks all the fun out of Tonks, and for the life of me I can't figure out the point of it all.
2. Who do you know that ships #13?
...apparently I converted my fair share of people after Blind Date? Before that -- uh, Poland/Prussia is apparently popular within the Polish fandom? And djsoliloquy wrote it?
3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3?
So Prussia is living in Germany's basement, and driving Germany nuts, and Austria and Hungary come in and kidnap him and chain him up to their bed and give him a pep talk that maybe even inspires him to get off his duff once in a while. And then they have sex. The end.
4. What is your favorite moment for #1?
So are we talking canon here or what? Canon: okay yeah Cleaning out the Storage made me cry the first time I read it. Shaddup. And The Battle for America brings out the d'awwww in me every time.
5. How long have you been following couple #6?
Well, I knew about K/S since I discovered the existence of slash fandom, but I didn't really see the appeal until the new movie, uh, showed me. Forcefully. With choking!fetish and all. (I should say that pre-XI, I was way more of a TNG girl.)
6. What's the story with #8? What made you stop caring?
Lots of awful, awful fic. It is very, very hard to find Russia/Lithuania where it's properly fucked-up, Russia is portrayed as human, if flawed, and Lithuania is not a weepy fragile flower of a martyr. I can think of one Russia/Lithuania fic that doesn't hit at least one of those three "argh NO" buttons. So at some point, I threw my hands up, went back to RoChu, and discovered the joys of America/Lithuania.
Also, Russia has become less sexual over time in my head, to the point where I now describe him as a serial cuddler, and while yeah, maybe he and Lithuania have had sex a few times? It's not a regular occurrence, and it's not all that important in the long run.
7. Which ship do you prefer--#2 or #4?
Dammit do not ask me to pick between Morgana/Gwen and Laurence/Tharkay. They both hit different kinks of mine, and hit 'em hard.
8. You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12.
Oh, definitely Kara/Lee. Grell/Sebastian is anywhere from "eh" to "...no" for me, but I don't hate it with nearly the same, uh, passion with which I hate Kara/Lee. In fact, I'm not sure I hate any ship as much as I hate Kara/Lee. Well. Miaka/Tamahome, maybe, but I just fuckin' hate Fushigi Yuugi.
9. What interests you about #14?
I have been inhaling the Outlander novels like crack of late, and I have completely and unabashedly fallen for Jamie and Claire. They just. They work together, and their relationship has lots and lots of obstacles even after they get married but they deal with them like reasonable people, most of the time, and they are good for each other and make each other better and go around rescuing each other lots and Claire kills a wolf with her bare hands this one time and Jamie is REALLY NOT AT ALL OKAY IN THE HEAD and they are so crazy in love and they'd do anything for each other and their sex life remains awesome even after they get married. I just. Gabaldon has made me root for them in my heart and soul, and if her books weren't so damn long and detailed I would be scribbling fic in the margins. As it is, I so want GI!America to meet Claire while she's a nurse during WWII. Socute.
10. When did you stop liking #7?
My interest in Ten/Rose rapidly cooled over the course of Series Three, when Ten was an absolute dick to Martha, and the series finale of Season Four drove the final nail into the coffin. RTD negated the emotional impact of Doomsday, made Rose utterly unlikable and self-centered (what's with the snitfit she throws over Martha? And the parting scene on Bad Wolf Bay was painful for the absolutely wrong reasons, and nonsensical to boot -- RTD wanted to have his Lonely God cake and eat his Doctor/Rose OTP 4EVA!!! too, and it showed and it was awful), and negated any character development she might have had. You know how you do a returned Companion? Sarah Jane is how you do a returned Companion. Yeah, life is never the same without the Doctor, and it hurts like hell to get left behind, and I like exploring that, but for god's sake STOP WHINING AND DO THE KIND OF WORK THAT WOULD MAKE HIM PROUD. I wanted to see Rose pick herself up and move on and find a meaningful life for herself -- she'd never forget the Doctor, and he'd never forget her, but that shouldn't ruin their chances of having other loves and other lives. But no, Rusty's a damn OTPer. And the fix-it with Ten-point-five is so nonsensical and not actually a fix-it and insulting and Sue-y that I can't even. So yeah. Thanks for killing Ten/Rose for me, Rusty. You know the dignified sendoff they got in End of Time? Would it have killed you to do it in Journey's End, too?
I still adore Nine/Rose, though.
11. Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the series?
Well, it was a symptom of the series' decay, so in a way, yes. The episode where they finally slept together was the point where the show completely derailed (fuckin' magic addiction, man), and Buffy was never much of a likable or sympathetic character after she and Spike knocked boots, so -- yes? Sigh. It sucks when canon ruins perfectly good ships.
