Ok I really do like Chicago but I have to say the coffee shops SUCK here. I don't have internet yet so I have to coffeeshop it for internet and I have to say that I've found 4 places that are closer to me than the one I'm at now and they all CHARGE FOR WIRELESS. This sounds ridiculous to you austinites, yes? Ok one of those 4 is a starbucks but the other 3 are local coffee shops! So now I'm at the only place I can find that has free wireless and they're playing the radio over the sound system. Call me a snob but aren't these places supposed to be all about the tunes? Who the fuck would play the radio complete with ads and annoying djs? And it's not some weird pirated station it's just a regular station (I guess an 80s station?)
This city has not jumped on the wireless bandwagon. They also have not jumped on the smoke-free bandwagon. You can smoke everywhere here it's totally sick. Smoking in restaurants? Is this the 70s? Another thing they don't have here is curbside recycling. This is one of the largest cities in the country and they make it close to impossible to recycle! They actually do have a program of some sort but it forces people to pay MORE to recycle and is in effect close to completely useless.
I'm done bitching about the backwards aspects of Chicago. And people think such things about texas! Hmph.
