The big trip grows ever closer. I am leaving the safe confines of Aberdeenshire on the morning of 9th of February and arrive in Tanzania on the morning of the 10th. Wow, it is real. OMG what have I let myself in for. Yes I am really going to Africa.
So I am of course taking '
Kilimanjaro - A Trekking Guide to Africa's Highest Mountain' but what novel should I take to read. I want to take a book that I will really enjoy. I will never forget the nightmare of being stuck on a plane from London to Bangkok with only a Donna Tart novel for company. It was hell.
I was thinking travel and epic journeys like 'Gullivers Travels', 'On the Road' or 'Lord of the Rings' (although my copy is a heavy hardback). Maybe a good reliable read that i enjoy reading time and time again 'Like Water for Chocolate' or one of Charles de Lints short story compilations. Maybe a scary climbing story like 'Touching the Void'.
So what do you think? Recommendations please!
