Halasana (Plow Pose)


  Soften eyes

Lift front thighs to ceiling

Widen shoulder blades

Press outer elbows into the support

Do spread palms across back (beginner pose not shown)

Don't squeeze chin and sternum together

Pose Benefits
Stretches neck, shoulders and chest
Improves breathing
Eases insomnia and invigorates a tired mind

Contraindications
High Blood Pressure
Neck Injuries
Glaucoma
Menstruation

When I do the full pose I feel I collapse my hips down toward my head, so I am using props.  Blocks under my shoulders so I do not compress my neck and dropping my feet down to a chair so I don't collapse my back.  This is a sign that my hamstrings are tight.  Who knew!  I warmed up with the extension practice.
