Driving down to the coast, along the lanes the field maples have at last turned gold, and leaves are falling. Above the woods, rooks playing tumbling games against the stormy grey sky.

Met up with C. for a walk from the village of Worth Matravers down to the sea.





The chalk track from Worth Matravers down to Winspit Quarry. A wild, windy morning on the high ground, but the track follows the sheltered valley down to the coast.






Disused quarry at Winspit. You used to be able to explore the caves, but when they were filming a Star Wars series here recently they must have taken some geotechnic readings to check the caves were safe, and guess what, they are not.



Imminent danger of rockfalls. Well, I've often wandered through the caves in the past, and they always felt like they were about to fall on my head.

But you can still stand on the quarry ledges, and watch the waves break against the rocks:

























And afterwards, after the long walk back up the combe, with the rain chasing at our heels, a visit to the very cosy Tea Room:
