Ammi majus

Ammi majus at Holme.

Meanwhile, back at home...

Sarah Raven very kindly sent me five Ammi majus seedlings, three of which have survived. I didn't order any Ammi majus. Possibly she really is trying to cover the British Isles in Erigeron and Ammi majus...

Or possibly the Ammi majus were a freebie to make up for the fact that the Icelandic Poppy seedlings she sent me were looking very, very sorry for themselves. I potted them up anyway, not expecting them all to survive, and they sulked in their pots, and neither died nor thrived. Until the temperature hit 25C last week, and they suddenly doubled in size, and put out flower buds.

And today, one flower.

I don't know what I am going to do with the Ammi majus seedlings though. It's quite an extravagant umbellifer: not a plant for a tiny garden.
