Against the darkness

Gales, rain. I suppose it will stop raining eventually. Still dark at seven, though the clocks go back tonight, and then we will have a few weeks' grace, light enough to see the paths on our early morning walks, before the dark days of midwinter come in.

I've clipped a little red light onto Max's collar so I can track the progress of the dark brown spaniel in the dark brown heather in the not-yet-light forest. He's enjoying the rain. His body language says the puddles are splendid.

My sister says you can now get rechargeable glow-in-the-dark dog collars, and that she has bought three, in different colours, so she can tell which dog is missing. She also has glow-in-the-dark balls to throw for the dogs. She says her morning walks are a mini festival of lights.
