I think I've reached a new record of time between entries-- 3 months! I keep putting it off because I have so much to say, and it keeps accumulating, and it becomes even more intimidating of a task....
So.... We've been moved in for awhile and have been doing a lot of painting, unpacking, and cleaning. It's going pretty well I guess. We slowed down our progress because of the holidays, but starting this weekend I think we are going to pick up the pace and try to finish painting another room and the hallway. We still need to buy some more furniture for clothing/fabric storage because our place has no closets. Did people only have one set of clothes back in 1900? I know there wasn't too much focus on a large wardrobe, but come on!
We will need to retile the kitchen and half bath because the people who attempted to lay the tile really, really screwed it up.... loose, uneven, and broken tiles... and the color isn't too flattering. We are also going to continue the tile into the dining room because there is only wood subfloor (painted) over the original hardwood floors and, while we know how to finish hardwood floors, I feel they covered it for a reason. So tile it is! I think we will go with a nice neutral slate gray... This, of course, won't be happening until next fall or next year...??? I'm not sure. Whenever we have the energy and the money I suppose.
So I've briefly mentioned the neighborhood we moved into-- it's a lovely place called
Hampden north of downtown Baltimore. If you would like to come visit we would love to have you! It's home of Atomic Books and is where the movie, Pecker, was filmed. There's even a shoes and chocolate store!
Oh, and we finally got a dog!!! He's a 2.5 year-old Italian Greyhound named Nico. We adopted him from the IG rescue group. He's quite a character and we love him very much.
I went to Las Vegas in early December to see my mom get married, which was very nice. I'm glad I could be there for her. It was a magnificent wedding and reception.
I got a job at a gym doing juice bar/childcare. Uhhhhhhhhhh... I'm already looking for something better-- I was just going stir-crazy in this house and took the first thing I found. I have several complaints about the gym, but my main reason for getting a new job is that they don't give me nearly enough hours.. but I will also need a job with flexibility because I will be going back to school in the fall.
Well, that's all I could muster for a totally random update. Perhaps my thoughts will be in more order next time. I will, however, provide the directory of pictures to show our progress on the house thus far---
here. And all the pictures of me are unflattering so ignore them please.
