I'm happy it has been snowing this evening, and that it will continue 'til tomorrow afternoon. It makes me feel all cozy and productive. For example, Billy and I spent the whole day cleaning and getting rid of unnecessary crap in our house; I finished a pair of comfy pj pants; cooking a yummy dinner (and cleaning up that mess!); and I think now we are going to continue drinking cocktails, watching Southpark, and playing Scrabble and/or Bookworm. We're adventurous like that. Though we did clean all day, I still have two daunting tasks ahead of me-- organizing my clothes and fabric. I may start that tomorrow or sometime this week as Billy will be out of town Mon-Fri and I will have some free time on my hands.
I'm really excited about our upcoming trip to Russia in May! I think I will have even more fun the second time round since I've learned more of the language, and I've done some of the tourist things so I can do all the other stuff that I didn't get to do last time. Oh, and my friend, Leah, decided she will come out and stay with us for a week or so while we are there. She just sent off her visa and will be buying her ticket soon! It will be so much fun for one of our closest friends to experience it with us.
One thing I've done lately that is rather interesting is that I participated in study for female car enthusiasts for a Finnish student's thesis. This guy found me through the Golf GTI enthusiasts Yahoo group and shot me an email asking if I would answer some questions. The only thing he could offer me was his conclusions for his thesis. I was quite enthusiastic as the topic of his thesis interested me immensely. I just finished the survey this evening and emailed it back to him. I can't wait to see what he writes in response to his conclusions.
Also, I (finally) joined Phi Theta Kappa (the National Honor Society of two-year schools) at my school. They've invited me every semester since I've attended to join the organization, but I didn't do it because of the one-time membership fee and I thought it wouldn't really help me with scholarships. BUT! I realized that the fee isn't too bad (though, it seems ridiclous now because this is my last semester at a two-year school), I had been interested in volunteering and I would surely get the opportunity through this organization, it certainly can't hurt me for scholarships and acceptance to my next school, and their monthly meetings feature some interesting topics, soooooooooo.... Yes, I'm quite excited! I finally am letting myself get some recognition for my badass grades:D The induction ceremony is this-coming Friday at 7pm. I usually don't attend such events and I'm not even required to attend the ceremony, but I figured I paid the fee and I should reap the benefits by eating some tasty appetizers:P
My last topic for my update is my decision to get Lasik eye surgery. I'm tired of contacts and glasses don't work on bright days (because I need sunglasses) or on rainy days (because they fog up and get rain spots on them). My eyes have been getting so incredibly dry and pink/red and, well, I've just had it altogether. I have not had a consultation yet but I have been researching it and getting feedback from people who have had it done already. I've narrowed it down to two offices-- Millenium Laser Eye Centers and LasikPlus. I'm going to schedule a consultation for both and decide based on their professionalism, atmosphere, and price (only if it is a significant difference). Price will not be too big of an issue because they are working on my EYES-- one of the most precious things in my body, but I'm sure both these offices are reputable and professional. I research everything to death! Oh, but if anyone has had this procedure done and can offer anything I will be very appreciative. Also, if anyone else knows of a reputable location in the DC-metro area that does Lasik I would be interested in researchin them as well.
Okay.... back to fun, snowy-evening stuff!
