Yes, I am actually keeping my promise to post pictures this time. Yeah! However, before all that I am going to update a little bit since I have not posted since 12/20.
~Christmas was good. I got good stuff including, but not limited to, a new sewing machine. It has a one-hole button stitch, bitches! I think the world of it right now....... until it gives me trouble for the first time and then it will be my enemy. Billy gave me a lot of cool things-- he knows me quite well. I'm constantly surprised by how well he knows my taste. That, or I am just really easy to shop for. Billy and I cooked a beautiful rosemary-infused turkey, rosemary-garlic mashed potatoes and yams, cornbread stuffing, and greenbean casserole. We did very well considering it was our first attempt at a turkey without supervision.
~NYC-- It was fun. It wasn't the beach vacation I had been dying for or anything, but I'm glad I finally got to go...... with Billy. I was so pooped every night because of all the walking we did. And we really didn't hit many of the tourist attractions. The one day that we were going to do museums and such we were really hungover from the previous night in Brighton Beach. I still cringe at the thought of some of the stuff I drank. Though, the "hungover day" was spent walking in Central Park and watching two movies cuddled up in our hotel room.
The drive to and from NYC sucked. 8 hours there, 6 hours back. For a drive that is merely 200 miles! In Texas, it would only take us 3 hours! The east coast sucks!
~NYE-- We went to Charlie and Amber's party held at Charlie's pad. It was good. We spent it the people we wanted to spend it with, and that's the way it should be every year. I vowed not to ring in the new year trashed and to not spend New Years Day hungover, so I stuck to a plan and it worked! Hooray! And for the past couple days Billy and I have been putting together Ikea furniture.
~School- It starts Monday. I don't want to go back. The fact that it is my last semester at NVCC and that I get to go back to Moscow for seven weeks right after finals keeps me motivated. Though, I will admit this will (hopefully) be one of my more calmer semesters yet. I hope to add many words to my Russian vocabulary and read some interesting books in World Lit.
Billy and I the last night of Chiaroscuro:/
On our way to NYC I saw this rust spot on the back of this SUV that looked like Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hungerforce.
Our first evening in New York, Billy took a picture of me by this mosaic in the subway.
Buildings.
I have this urge to chase pigeons in every city. New York pigeons are playful. I would do it again.
Description follows.
A troupe of breakdancers performing in the subway. I didn't think they were that great (not that I am a breakdancing expert or anything). I've just seen better.
A church.
Yours truly eating delicious food from this trendy Cuban restaurant, Cabana. I had the empanadas and Billy had the most amazing seafood paella!
That big tree everyone was talking about;)
Another church.
This was probably the coolest mosaic we saw. That's only part of it.
Big balls.
Ground Zero (which was super-close to our hotel). I felt I should put the picture that had the cross-thingy in it or else one would think I was simply taking a picture of the buildings in the distance.
Me at Primorski, a Russian restaurant in Brighton Beach. Damn good food, too! I recommend the vareniki (dumplings with sour cream), homemade pickles, borscht, and the rack of lamb! Not to mention the vodka!
Billy at Primorski
Me. Again, at Primorski. I feel that I should mention as the picture quality gets weirder and the focus is off-center it was probably because of the rising level of intoxication. Behind me was some entertainment. A "woman" and pianist performing Russian music. And I saw "woman" because I'm so convinced she was a man. We tried snapping pictures to evaluate later, but they didn't come out that well. Oh well, I guess we'll never know.
Billy and I at the Luxor Lounge, a cool bar in Brighton Beach. We got really shit-faced there and I ended up puking twice on a subway platform later. I should have expected it, though, because I broke my number one rule-- stick to vodka. After 7 shots of vodka at Primorski, a raspberry vodka tonic, a shot of 99 blackberries (99 proof, mind you), and that horrible, horrible Sambuca shot*! (*Note- the Sambuca shot looked cool and that's why I wanted to take it. It has fire!).
Mummies at the Luxor Lounge
Our lovely bartender making the Sambuca shot that did me in.
Cool, foggy buildings!
Hungover in Central Park.
The Metropolitan museum, which we did not enter. Because of my hungover state and the crowd of people lurking outside, I felt it would be better for me to stay outside to avoid nausea. This means I need to make a trip up there one weekend just to do museums.... because we didn't do the Guggenheim either.
NYE!
Billy and Shawn.
Asia and I doing a Zoolander-esque photo shoot with Billy. We were told to act like tigers, fishies, and I think in this one we were acting like bunnies? I don't remember very well.
Asia and I again.
Billy and I doing that kissy-thing.
