It's been awhile I think. I'm actually sitting at my computer for once, so I can write without fear of the iPhone app eating the post. I've been pretty posty with Oscar pictures on facebook lately. If you don't have me on there and want to friend me I'm Lisa Peri McGougan.
In Oscar news, he can pull himself up to standing sometimes. He's still working out what position his legs and feet need to be in when he starts, though. He tends to get stuck sitting on one foot. And he's getting closer to crawling every day. He can move his feet forward, and he can move his hands forward, but not at the same time.
So he'll move his hands forward and his feet don't follow, and he flops on his belly. And then he gets up and will maybe move his feet forward, but his hands aren't moving, so he just sits back down on his butt once his knees are under his chest. In this way, he can make some progress. Scott had me put him in the pack'n'play yesterday because I was making dinner and Scott was trying to work, and the baby kept going over and messing with the dogs. He loves those dogs! Thyla loves him back, a little too much. Spit definitely has been swapped, ew. Building his immunity, I tell myself.
Elbow moves cautiously just out of reach when Oscar gets close.
My neighbor is pregnant, due in February! She has a freakin' adorable little girl who's two. She has really good language skills, and she says things that make me LOL. She also cracks herself up sometimes. When she laughs, she covers her mouth with her hand and does this little muppet-esque snicker, which cracks me up.
We've been doing a little more "Elimination Communication" lately, saving some diapers! On a great day I can get him to use the toilet for about 90% of the time. I decided it's perfectly reasonable to shoot for 50% and anything over that is bonus. We've been catching a morning poop, which is kind of neat because he's never ever been consistent about pooping before. All the later in the day ones have been surprises, though. He doesn't really do anything to indicate he's about to do it. I just either smell it or hear it as it's splooching out. :b
I'm going to move the dogs out of the bedroom. I felt a little bad about it because they're part of the pack and all, but I asked my dog-whispery neighbor and she said it's fine. They'll get used to it very quickly and they'll have each other. This will be good for two reasons. One, when Grimmy outgrows his rubbermaid bin, I think what I'll do is get a twin mattress and put it on the floor. The only place to put it is where the dog bed is unless I move my dresser out of the room. Two, that's one more room I don't have to deal with dog hair. I'm unreasonably excited thinking about that.
