I have only just returned from my trip to Austria, followed by two days in Lörrach where I had the great privilige of seeing Leonard Cohen on stage. I was very, very lucky in everything that day and now that I have seen the living legend live I wish to thank

I'm pleased you had such a wonderful experience. Only 5000 wow, and you were in the front row!!! Even though there were SO MANY when I saw him, he seems to have that rare ability to create intimacy, therefore it FELT special. It must have felt very special for you when he smiled at you.......he is a remarkable man. And I think you are right, It's not just for the money......he does enjoy and appreciate being there and being able to bring people together to enjoy his work.

Strangely, it was not so special at all when he smiled at me. Just normal - as if the smile was directed at me as the audience rather than at me as a person.
I am glad you had a similar experience at your concert. Yes, intimacy is created and I guess that can be managed up to the last row. And I hope I will be able to keep the happiness of the night for a while. It surely was good for the mood ;)

Ok, now I'm going to go to the concert twice in October - Munich and Hamburg! :-)

I am pleased my report left such an impression. But maybe it is just easy to impress me? Or was it that you thought: If even cold-hearted pudding has nothing to scold about, that must have been great? ;)

Your report and Lennie's music. :-)

Oh, and we've got a conference on Monday AND assessment by the boss that week... stupid me might have to give the Munich-ticket to my mother in law. :-( It will mean only two hours of sleep, as there is no return train and we'll have to go by car (2-3 hours).

And I keep my fingers crossed for poor Ispellit being able to go - she's still got the tickets for Hamburg, so there's hope. I told her not to send me mine until she was absolutely sure she wouldn't be able to go. (Maybe I should try and find a hotel... for 3 nights in Hamburg, though, as I've booked the return flight for Monday evening...) I can't cancel the flight.

Seems I'm at risk of not seeing Leonhard Cohen at all...

Crap!!! I hope everything will work out fine for you. I got tickets for Franfurt now and even the Frankfurter Allgemeine state´d that the concert in Lörrach was like a mass. Maybe I should start being a journalist instead of that horror job we have.

Poor ispellit. But it is still a while till October. She MUST be able to go - and so will you. It would be so sad if not :(

Having him speak 'A Thousand Kisses Deep' gave me a very different understanding of it. I wouldn't have missed that experience. I hope it stays with you for a long time. :-) :-) :-)

He didn't speak that one in Lörrach. Didn't sing it either. Maybe he thought some of the people in the audience didn't speak English and thus would be bored? Pity :(

Check your mail sweety. Glad S. can see him too. The friend I went with will be going again to see him with her husband but I can't make any of the dates.
