So that was it, then.

They were leaving tomorrow, and it was “very unlikely” that they’d ever be coming back. The rest of the information had been very unclear, but they knew that a girl was missing. Specifically, a very nice, quiet girl who Kurt had all his classes with, who was probably dead by now. And that still wasn’t enough to make Kurt happy to leave.

He’d spent more than half the year wondering if some huge monster was going to pop around a corner one day and try to kill him, but he didn’t want to go, and he got that more than he ever had when faced with the threat of being forced out. At this school, at least, he didn’t feel like he put people in danger just by existing around them, and he had friends. Friends who might not want to keep up with him once they got back home and didn’t have an excuse to see each other anymore.

Puck hadn’t taken the news well, either, and was sulking in one of the overlarge armchairs in the middle of the room. Kurt thought about saying something to him, but obviously he had his own reasons to be sore about this, and he looked like he might hit the next person who tried to get him to talk. The only one he seemed alright with was Firestone, who jumped up onto his leg a few minutes after he sat down and purred at him sympathetically like the cat knew he was needed. Or maybe he just wanted to be petted.

“What do you think they’ll do about Colin and everyone?” Sam whispered the question into Kurt’s ear, unwilling to break the quiet that hung over the common room.

Shrugging, Kurt slumped back against the wall behind him (with nearly the entire population of Gryffindor huddled in the same room, they’d quickly run out of chairs). “Send them to the hospital maybe? Do you have a hospital for this stuff?”

“St. Mungo’s, I guess.”

Kurt wondered vaguely why they hadn’t been sent there in the first place. It was more fun than wondering what would happen after he got home.

But there wasn’t anything to be done about it, so there he was at the end, feeling irrationally angry at Professor McGonagall for being the one to show up at his father’s garage and drag him into this, and also the one to tell him it was over. Why bother to tell him about it at all if nothing was going to come of it in the end?

That sad even if I know they aren't really leaving. Are you going to do other years for the next challenge ? cause that would be cool!

Actually I'm probably going to jump ahead to do more 6th year stuff in just a couple days. This verse was never going to be chronological. But assuming we do have another challenge in January, it's very likely I'll do more of this verse, just not sure what year(s) yet.
