30 Little Moments - #12 Childrensunshine_flyingJune 12 2012, 15:07:18 UTC
After a couple of months in New York, Puck and Kurt were confident that they could make this work. Kurt found work as a stylist's assistant, and he loved the job more than he ever would have imagined. Puck was working at a garage nearby and taking a few night classes for a business degree, but nothing that would change his career path too much.
One rather stormy night in July, the two were curled up in bed as the storm raged around them. Kurt was torn between trembling and giggling in Puck's arms, because the weather and his thoughts were two very different things with two very different effects on him. Kurt stayed curled up against Puck as he commented, "If we had a kid, they'd be between us right now."
It was such a casual comment, but at the same time carried a lot of weight. "You think so, huh?" Puck asked, amused.
He hadn't really thought about kids - not since he'd come to terms with the fact that he would never have been able to raise Beth. Not with his finances and the stuff he had to deal with to graduate. Kurt just commented offhandedly, "Well... they'd be scared, just like me. You'd have two people to comfort instead of one."
A small smile played on Puck's lips. "I think I could handle that," he mused.
Kurt paused for a moment before he looked up and asked, "You could?"
Puck hadn't been expecting the question, but he slowly nodded and said, "Yeah, I could handle it. I mean, I was good with Beth so I'd be good with anyone else I think."
Kurt smiled softly and let thoughts of having a future with Puck fill his mind. "One day," Puck insisted. "One day we'll have enough money and we can adopt a little kid and give them a good home."
"Just one kid?" Kurt asked, curious as to how many Puck wanted.
"Well, two or three, I guess," he shrugged. "No more than four."
Kurt let out another giggle, and then he nodded, "Okay, no more than four. I think I can handle that."
He peeked up at Puck from where he was burrowed in his arms and the blankets, and he smiled before kissing him. The storm was starting to fade, and Kurt relaxed, quickly falling asleep in Puck's arms.
