A/N: Uh, so I kinda forced my own book, that I wrote for my little sister, into this. Don't hate me.
(Changed the main charater's name, though - he's actually Noah…)

"But, Mr.Kurt!"

Swallowing a whine at the adression, Kurt turned to the small blonde girl sitting to his right.

"Yes, Audrey?"

"This book is wrong! Wolves are big and strong and dangerous!"

Kurt shrugged. "Well, not all of them. It's the same as with you guys - you're all kids, but you're not the same, are you?"

Audrey's tiny button nose immediately scrunched up as she cast a glance at Stevie Higgs, currently trying to scrape the remnants of lunch off his teeth with a pink pencil.

"No, we're not."

"There. Some wolves are big and strong and dangerous and some are small and lanky and scared - which is not a bad thing. It would be boring if they were all the same," he tried to muster up a smile that he hoped didn't look patronizing.

Audrey nodded in her typical ferocious manner, blonde braids swishing around her head. Kurt let out a sigh of relief and returned to reading.

Several hours later, just as he was cleaning up and waiting for the last few parents to arrive, a quiet shuffle of small feet next to his desk stopped him in his tracks.

"Kurt?" a squeaky voice asked, and Kurt had to look around in bemusement before his gaze fell on the small child in front of him.

"What is it, Kev?" he asked, immediately dropping on his knees, eye-level with the boy.

If Kurt played favorites with his kids (which he absolutely didn't, thank you very much), Kevin would definitely be one of them. He was way too small for his age, dark-haired and pale, with big green eyes. He was also exceptionally smart, but painfully shy, and it was rare for him to speak, much less actually come up and ask something, or call Kurt by his name.

"I, um...the book you were reading, before lunch?"

Kurt thinks about Down the Railroad Tracks and frowns. "What about it?"

Kevin fidgeted a little, then shrugged and sat down on the carpet.

"The main character...the little wolf."

"Benji?"

Kevin nodded and scratches his cheek, angry red blotches immediately coloring the delicate skin, but he didn't even seem to be aware.

"He's like me."

Kurt's stomach sunk a little. "What do you mean?"

"He's lonely…and scared, and doesn't want to stick out, because everyone would look at him. But he likes reading and strawberries, even though they make him sneeze, and his teacher, the peacock. He's like me," Kevin shrugged.

Kurt would never admit to getting teary-eyed, or pulling the boy closer and pressing a kiss into his wild hair.

"There's nothing wrong with you, you know that, right?"

He waited for the barely-there nod against his collarbone. "Good. Just as I told Audrey, it would be really boring if we were all the same."

Kurt pulls away then, his hands still engulfing the tiny shoulders. "Just imagine me. I'm one of the very fashionable wolves that live in the silver forest, where Benji's Mom was from, right?"

Kevin nodded, smiling.

"Well, then, imagine if someone took my clothes away and replaced them with something you see on everyone. It wouldn't be me, would it?"

"Nope."

"Well, then. Each one of us is a different kind of wolf. Just..keep being yourself, and maybe somebody will write a book about you, someday," he presses another on the boy's forehead.

His parents pick him up ten minutes later, and as they walk out into the parking lot, for the first time ever, Kevin looks back at Kurt, waves, and smiles.
