How does one credit peoples icons?

by putting the maker's username in your keywords, such as:
amelie by blotts
or amelie icon/blotts

however you wish. :D

This may be a dumb question but why do people like to be credited for making icons? I've never made any myself, is there a lot of work involved? Don't worry, if I take any I will credit, I was just curious because I'm kind of new at this.

I feel like icons are web art, and so with any art, you usually credit the artist, don't you? When I make big batches like this it does take quite a while since each icon sometimes has multiple layers of work done on it etc etc. So yeah, it is kind of nice to get credit for something you've done, even if it is a silly lj icon. Also, it helps if a person sees an icon they like on their friends page for example, and they wonder if there are any more like them or who made it, and they see the name in the keywords and bam! They hit the icon journal and get a bunch of new icons. :) It is not a dumb question. I sometimes question myself as well, wondering why I make people credit this 100x100 image I made....but I guess I see it as a form of art.

Cool, thanks :) I guess I just wondered because sometimes it seems like someone takes an image someone did (calvin, etc) and crops it... but I didn't account for the fact that a lot of times people put more work into it than that.

Good job on the icons btw!

well I personally think if I were to use a C&H icon, I'd credit whoever made the icon AND Watterson...since the icon wouldn't exist if it wasn't for him. So I see your point.

Thanks!
