So I'm really excited about joining Phi Mu. I will find out Friday if i got a bid, but I'm pretty sure they all like me. It will be nice to have a group of people i can hang out with and go to parties with. Just having someone to always eat with will be nice. Plus all the girls are super sweet and I genuinely like almost all of them. So wish me luck.
In other news I cast my play. I am doing Scooter Thomas Makes It To The Top Of The World by Peter Parnell. I have two freshmen boys Mike Bloom as Dennis and Chris Amirault as Scooter. While Chris was not my top choice, I had to compromise because we cast three shows at once and we were all vying for the same actors, I am excited to have him. Plus Chris is really hot (Which i swear had no effect on my casting, but is an added perk.) I can't wait to start rehearsing. If anyone is interested in coming the show opens April 27-29. No worries if you can't i know its quite the drive for all of you.
Classes have been going well. Design is a bit weird so far we have talked about our personal life experiences that led us to do theater and the coolest thing we have seen in the theater. We also watched a very strange production of Macbeth that Tim directed. So far we have done no designing, but Tim said we should be starting that next class so im both excited for that to start as well as nervous. I love my performance studies class. Its a lot of work but so worth it. Acting class is so much fun. If you have never played the Black Widow game you all should. Not only is it a fun activity, it is a giant metaphor for everything you need to know about acting, and life in general. Im the overly argumentative one in my Philosophies of Religion class, but I'm alright with that. Im just opinionated (and in most cases have something of great value to add to discussion). We are getting our scripts for The Library tomorrow and then casting it. I really want to be Rachel but would be happy to play any part. Also we went on a field trip to NY to the Museum of Jewish Heritage, which was such a great museum. They had so many artifacts and interesting displays. How have i been to NY so many times and never been to this museum.
So in conclusion, life here is pretty good. I am feeling happy and staying busy. The social thing is coming together. I am being recognized for all my hard work. Oh and also i switched my study abroad program from Goldsmiths, where i had been planning to go since the beginning of freshmen year, to Queen Mary College, which is also in London. Jim suggested this would be a better program for me because its more academically challenging, there will still be Muhlenberg students but much less so it wont be mini Muhlenberg, it is located right in the city, and they actually have a theater club where i can do theater instead of just study it. Also I am applying to assistant direct for SMT this summer. The shows we are doing are Kiss Me Kate and The Who's Tommy. I would be thrilled to work on either of them. Right now I'm waiting to hear back from Jim on if he wants an AD. The rest of the summer I plan to be here working either in the box office or as an administrative assistant. So its possible i will only be home again for a week this summer, but actually thats the way i perfer it. I love being here. And if any of you wants to take a road trip up this summer to see a show that would be awesome. I will be turning 21 so we could go out and celebrate. And Hopefully my good friend Amber will be staying as well. Yay for life being so wonderful.
