Today sure has been a very welcomed day. I worked 9 straight days up til Tuesday, went back to work on Wednesday night, and was off again today. I deserved the rest, and today I feel I got it, despite doing quite a few things around the place. Last week was chaotic at work. No prejudice at all on my part, but blacks get away with murder, at least where I work. Whether its money missing, not showing up for work...whatever it is. There are no repecussions for them, so it continues. All it does is make those of us who bust our asses day in and day out, year after year, mad as hell. We have finally been outspoken about it, but it just doesnt matter to management. A mother and son had a funeral of a family member to go to last Sat am...my day off. I sacrificed my day off Saturday, to move that day to Sunday. I work, go to the Wings game Sat night, and on my way home, Kristin calls me to say one of my bosses called to TELL me I was working on Sunday, 1-9...my original shift!! I was pissed, and at first didnt well display my anger. I was quick to call back and complain, and as I did, I got NOWHERE! 3 people had called in that night, nothing had changed for Sunday, they just didnt want to deal with it again, so I HAD to be there. Whatever. Getting there Sunday, I find that Alisa, the mother, had not come to work at 8am, as scheduled. Finally, she was gotten hold of by her sister-in-law...at 10 am, and she was told soon after to come in and work the night shift...got a flat out "NO, my shift was covered already." Its insane what they get away with. It was uncovered by her own son, Ervin, that his momma was out drinkin til 3 am Sunday. Well, she comes in on Monday with a sweet lil story about how her son had not come home all night, and was let off the hook. Freakin crazy I tell ya.
Anyhoo...now I am getting dinner all set up and ready for Kris and I. I made spaghetti, got garlic bread ready to go in the oven, so its all good. I'm starving. Oh yeah, turns out to be a celebratory dinner. Kris got a HUGE raise, so living will get a bit easier for both of us. I'm way excited for her...way to go babe!! I'm proud of you. Aldo didnt work the first time for a reason. Its all about the fate.
