Yet another day ... I hate this time of year at work. The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is just pure torture because everyone is taking off and nothing gets done. You can never find who you need when you need them. Sooooo what better time than to get caught up with my LJ.
1) Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving was absolutely wonderful this year. We spent it with our extended family (My Mom's best friend and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild). These are the people that Dale and I camp with all summer long so it just seemed very natural to all be together for a family oriented holiday. Of course no one really cared for the healthy casseroles I prepared for the day. LOL That's ok. I thought they were wonderful!
2) My 2-year Bandiversary: On Friday, November 25th, Halford and I celebrated our 2nd year together. In celebration, we braved the Black Friday crowds and scored two new "dressy" outfits and an awesome full length suede and fur coat. It's been a wonderful ride with Halford over all. He's afforded me good health most importantly, but also size 8 jeans!!! LOL Here's to many more wonderful years with Halford - he rules - literally! LOL
3) My New "Do": The new haircut seems to be a raving success. I really do like it ... even though I have to get up earlier and now have a plethora of girly items like styling products, curling irons, etc, etc. And I even check how windy it is before I go outside to walk now. LOL ... I'm so fru-fru! But hey, that's a lot of work in the morning and I'd hate to have it ruined by one big gust of wind! People keep telling me I look like a different person and even I think so really. It's hard to believe that the person looking back in the mirror is me.
4)The Goblet of Fire: We decided not to go to the midnight showing of GoF after all. We had too much going on that week and figured it would be nice to get away over Thanksgiving and go see the movie. And that turned out to be a good plan. We went on Saturday to see the movie and I thought it was really, really good. It brought a lot of the book to life for me. I still wonder about some of the details that were left out of the movie that play into the next book, but I'm assuming they will "fix" that much like they did several things in this movie. Creative license ya know.
5)Leppard on Jimmy Kimmel: Yes, Joe's voice was rough. Yes, he was off. But let me say this: That is the one thing I love about that band. Seriously. They could have lip synced. They didn't and they don't. That's what I love about live performances ... you get what you get. He still gave 110% and in my not so humble opinion that's all that matters. He gave it his best. He's been on the road now for how many months? He ain't no spring chicken anymore either and his voice has always been a problem. And that's part of what makes his voice so unique. It's not polished and precise ... it's raw and unruly ... and I love it that way! It's the energy of the band as a whole that makes the performance ... and the energy was there. Besides ... the man wore the slightest little bit of black eyeliner .... and in my book that gives him license to croak Rock of Ages if he so desires ... LMAO! It's not always about hitting the right notes.
6)My Ogo: It was lost, but now it is found! Yay!! I have a heck of a time keeping track of that little bugger.
It's been a busy week outside of work this week. Guitar lessons on Monday night, Allergy shot's Tuesday night, last night we went to
browneyedgirlwv's son's first birthday party (he was such a gentleman with his little car cake!) and tonight we are going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra. If you get the chance to catch one of their shows, I highly recommend it. It's an awesome Christmas show and very different from anything I'd ever seen before. This is the third year we've gone, so we really, really like it. Thank goodness we don't have anything planned for Friday night but then Saturday we head to Cincinnati for Mule! Woo Hoo!
So I'll stop rambling now before I take up anymore room on everyone's Friend's List ....
