I think I always knew I wanted to be in the health field; nothing else interested me more.
I’ve always hated english, history was something I liked learning about but was never passionate about, and math, although I know I am very good at, has no application to my life or where I want it to go. The human body, and the struggles it endures fascinates me and engrosses my senses like nothing else can. And I think alongside that comes this passion I have for caring for people. I grew up with and was raised by my grandparents for the best years of my life, and they took care of me through everything and ultimately helped me become the confident, self-respected individual that I am. Now, as they grow with age, I would do anything to reciprocate their desire to care after those close to them; my grandparents humbly deserve nothing less.
As I grew, that need, that desire, to care for my grandparents transcended and evolved into caring for all people. Although at times, I may seem selfish (within relative reason), the thought of nursing and my goals toward this profession allow me to bring out the best in myself - this genuine, altruistic self that personifies the quality of a well-educated, well-rounded, compassionate nurse.
