Ehm...I never said that, I said the common person didn't know who Hellboy was until the movie. Most Dark Horse comic characters aren't well known until they make themselves known on a screen of sorts.

Now stop trying to make up for the fact that you didn't know who Punisher was until the movie trailers.

Dark Horse is indeed very popular. Well... I've heard of it, at least. I collect comics; though, so I've heard a lot.
