When I found an optometrist who said he could write me a prescription for glasses that would make my eyes work together I was thrilled. Not completely sure how prisms worked I waited until the glasses came to make up my mind. However, during the wait, my expectations grew and by the time they finally came back, I just knew that I’d be able to stop wearing the patch and be able to see everything clearly. Knowing the strength of the lenses would be stronger than before; I waited until the next morning to put them on. WOW, what a change. No patch, no headaches, I could see clearly, and no patch!! I would be able to walk into interviews confident that the patch would not hold me back. I waited a few more days to play on the computer and gave the eyes a few more days to get used to looking at the computer and at other parts of the room just as I would in an office. My honest opinion now is...the glasses replace the patch and help me use both eyes. The little vision I have in my left eye is all I will ever have (in the left eye). The glasses, though helpful in many ways, will not give me anywhere close to my old 20/50 vision. Yes, I will be able to work with a few accommodations but I can work. I won’t be able to spend hours playing on the computer anymore but if I pace myself and take breaks I will be able to play WoW when I can. I can drive during the day, not sure about at night. And I was able to find a pair of clip-on sunglasses so I don’t have to wear the kind that are big and bulky and fit over the clear glasses. So everything considered I should be happy with the outcome. I am not quite there yet, but with each day wearing the glasses I hope to like them more.
