Lorna was in her trailer when she heard the crying. Without even thinking, she poked her head out. She remembered Kate from their conversation on the board, but hadn't expected to meet her like this.

Lorna moved to intercept her, not even caring if Kate wanted her help or not. She picked the younger girl (Kate wasn't that much shorter than the very petite Lorna), hauling her into the trailer.

Running, crying people typically had a reason for doing that, and she wanted to help if she could.

Kate at first fight whoever grabbed her, but given that she didn't really know how to fight and was already dealing with a couple big shocks, it wasn't effective.

Realizing that it was a woman who had her however, she quit fighting and let Lorna carry her. Sniffling she held on for a minute, then squirmed away, rubbing the back of her head, and wiping her eyes. "Hi."

The door closed gently on its own, and Lorna went to the bathroom for her emergency First Aid supplies. She gave Kate a tight, watery smile. "Hi. Do you often run through trailer parks screaming?"

She moved to examine Kate's head, since that was the first place the girl had touched.

"No. Not really sure how I ended up here." She settled for wiping her nose on her shelve. She whined when Lorna began checking over her head, a decent goose egg beginning to form. She pale and looked spooked - which, given she'd found a dead body, not surprising.

Lorna sighed at the bump, but it wasn't bleeding too badly. She looked at Kate's eyes, checking for signs of a concussion. "That's okay. I was just thinking about how boring things were here, anyway."

She gave Kate a more serious look when she asked, "What were you running from?"

Other than the bump, her head was fine. Luckily. "Some one...vampires I think...killed Miss Macy and Kevin is being all psycho and mean and Josh is screaming at me an-an-an..." the words come out in a hurried rush, and her breath catches and she starts crying.

"Oh wow." That did explain the running and crying. Lorna handed Kate a box of tissues, squeezing the girl's shoulder awkwardly. "It's okay. It really is. Just calm down a little bit. If Kevin knows what happened that means Kurt does too, and he'll take care of things."

Kate took the tissues, blowing her nose. She mumbled, "Kevin slammed me into a wall too. Jackass. He didn't haveta be mean." She didn't think too much about whether it was right or wrong - kids on the street roughed each other up and Kate was small enough, and naive enough, that she got roughed up quite a bit, even from the kids who were 'looking after' her. She did however lean into Lorna's hand, grateful for the comfort.

Lorna made a face. "Well, Kevin's kind of a jerk." She patted Kate's hair gingerly with her other hand. Behind her the tea kettle found its way to the stove and began heating, as a pair of coffee mugs settled on the counter next to it.

"Why did he slam you into a wall?"

"I dunno. I found Miss Macy an' went to go tell Kevin, 'cause Kevin made the vampires me leave me alone before, and he was all mad, and Josh was screamin at me, and Kevin was screamin 'n' cussed at me, and he grabbed me and slammed me against the wall and yelled at me to go home." How Kate had gotten turned around and ran in the opposite direction she didn't know. "Then Josh grabbed Kevin and made 'im let go, and told me to go."

Lorna nodded, listening to the story. That. . . wasn't surprising. "You;ve got a nose for trouble, sweetie. Do you drink tea?"

Tea was probably the right answer. At least in Lorna's experience it was.

"I guess. She was making me cupcakes."

"I dunno. I'm not picky." It was absently said - as if an afterthought.

Lorna sighed, squeezing Kate's shoulder again. "I'm sorry. She'll be okay in a couple days, though. Kitty came back pretty quickly." It was a cold comfort, for the moment, but better than nothing.

She got out tea bags and set them int eh mugs, before grabbing a blanket to drape around Kate.

"She's still dead."

Kate snuggled under the blanket, sticking close enough to Lorna to be a tripping hazard. "Could they get in here?"

"So are we. It's not as much of an impediment around here."

She didn't mind Kate staying close. It was nice to have someone else in the trailer, truth be told. "No. And if they did, they'd find themselves in trouble. I don't like my house being threatened."

She handed Kate a mug, leading her to the couch.

"I don't feel dead."

"How can they not?" She took the mug, and let herself be lead to the couch, sitting down and curling up on it, watching Lorna, and leaving room for her to sit.
