Rissa sipped the shake. They were an old recipe around the Moon - chocolate ice cream, oreos, fudge, chocolate sauce, and chocolate chips blended together - and Rissa had missed them ( Read more... )

Kate had stolen a couple pillows and was laying them, leaning against Rissa. "These are good. How'd you learn to make these?" She'd been quiet since yesterday, even a little withdrawn. She hadn't told Rissa what had happened but she'd been thinking about it. And seriously thinking about going to practice with Rissa.

Rissa chuckled. "I'd had a really bad day. Not to mention I had cramps that made me want to beat on small furry creatures." She shrugged. "These came out of that."

She shifted, yawning. "I don't eat them often, or I'd never be able to wear my jeans, but sometimes, you just need chocolate."

She tilted her glass, careful not to spill it. "This would be a good fix for a really bad day."

She sat up as Rissa moved, then settled against her again. "Why'd you need it today?"

Rissa shrugged. "I didn't." She admitted. She looked down at Kate, and shifted slightly, so she could wrap an arm around the teenager. "You, however, seemed to."

"Yeah, I did." She pulled Rissa's arm around her. "Sunday wasn't fun. At all." She sighed. "What time do you practice?"

Rissa chuckled. "Usually around six." She admitted. "If not earlier." She looked down at Kate. "We usually practice for almost two hours." Rissa sipped her shake. "I know the X-Men practice throughout the day, I believe. I know I've caught Iceman and Jubilee in the afternoon in the gym."

She made a face at the time. She usually slept til noon. "I work in the afternoons." She frowned. She'd rather have an adult teach her. And she couldn't think of Jubilee as an adult. "I don't really know a lot of people. And I'm not really a fighter."

Rissa shrugged. "I was never a fighter either." She said. "Until I found myself in way too many situations where I had to fight my way clear. I got tired of having my ass handed to me. So, I learned." She didn't feel the need to mention that as a Queen, knowing how to fight meant she didn't put a whole burden on her bodyguards.

"You could ask just about anyone around here. The XMen can teach you a lot. The Captain might not be the best teacher, and neither would be a few others, but..." Rissa frowned. "Maybe someone far more used to teaching would be a better teacher. Admittedly, my fifteen year old daughter regularly beats me."

"I'd rather just hightail it. it works ok." She drank some of her shake.

"I don't really know anything about the X-men. So who would be a good teacher?"

Rissa glanced down at her. "The point of learning a few things about fighting isn't so that you can fight, but so that you can get away." She advised. "You need to learn this, so that no matter the situation, you can attempt to get the hell away."

She thought for a moment. "Honestly, I don't know. Jubilee and you are built very similarly. She probably knows quite a bit about getting out of bad situations. But I don't know how good of a teacher she'd be." Rissa shrugged.

"Yeah, I know. I'd just as soon get outta dodge. I guess it makes sense to learn to fight so I can. I'm even so good at getting away, I guess."

She let her head fall against Rissa's arm. "Jubes and I really are. She seemed ok, but I dunno, she's kinda a kid too, isn't she?"

Rissa looked down, and couldn't stop herself. Her fingers began finger-combing the teenager's hair. "She's over twenty." Rissa explained. "And she has been doing it for a good chunk of her life."

She sipped her shake. "Age doesn't matter, when experience comes into play."

She turned her head and cuddled closer to Rissa. "True, I guess. About her, not age verse experience."

"So, how'dya get loose when you arms are pinned?"

Rissa looked down. "If you don't want her, maybe ask Kevin. He'd be able to advise someone far more than I could." Though she had a feeling Kevin was part of the problem.

"Depends on how they're pinned." Rissa sipped her milkshake. "But there's always SING. Solar plexus, instep, nose, and groin."

A cloud passed over her face. "I dunno if I can ask Kevin."

"Well, if you can't use your arms and they're bigger then you? Cause, well, most people are bigger then me. Like, almost everybody."

Rissa looked down at Kate. Her fingers continued working their way through her hair. "Kate," she said gently. "What happened?"
