Alan Rickman talks playing Severus Snape, "an old friend".

It's a translation of an Italian article, including an interview.

You knew the secrets of Snape from the beginning?
When I first got the part I phoned Ms. Rowling because I needed some trace, some background on the character otherwise I couldn’t play him truthfully. We had a long talk [about the character]. It remained a secret.

What memories over the past ten years do you have that are reminiscent in playing Snape?
The start was exciting. I've edited every aspect, both psychological and practical, of the character: cutting hair, the length of the dress robes, make-up. Then, I entered a strange procedure. Every year of traveling, I secured regional plays, taking other stories and then, for seven weeks, I wore black contact lenses, finding an old friend and a part of myself.

Film after film, Daniel Radcliffe and the other young actors have become adults ...
A few months ago I went to see Daniel in a Broadway show [How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying]. While he sang and danced at the thought of this 11-year-old boy who stared wide-eyed behind the lens on the set [of the first film], it’s unreal to think that now Daniel is an artist and a young man.
