Shows I've Been Watching

When I'm not working or studying, I'm watching TV.

I'm watching The Borgias and liking it. (I'm two eps behind: I just watched ep 6.)

I've started watching Game of Thrones. (I've only watched the first two eps.) I haven't been hooked yet.

I'm still watching House MD. I'm almost up to date with it. I still like it :-)

I'm still watching White ( Read more... )

The first two episodes of Game of Thrones are pretty much all set-up. They have to be, because they're laying the groundwork for a huge story. It's hard for me to judge, because I can't disconnect from my knowledge of what happens in the books when I watch any of the episodes, but I think people new to the story start to get into it more once Ned reaches King's Landing (in episode 3 ( ... )

Yes, it wasn't easy to follow the first two eps of Game of Thrones. Too many characters, too many things to absorb. But it looks promising :-)

Oh, you're not the first person to compare Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs. I haven't watched Upstairs, Downstairs, so I think I should take a look at it, too! Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to watch more eps. When I finish Season 1 I'll let you know my opinion.

There are actually two versions of Upstairs Downstairs: the original which ran from the late 60s to the early 70s and covered approximately 1900 to 1930, and the 2010 three-episode version which takes place in a much narrower range of time in the 1930s. So be sure to know which you're watching!

Personally, I'm a big Downton Abbey fan, a bigger Upstairs Downstairs fan, and a HUGE Game of Thrones fan. I'm also rereading the books.

You'll probably have a far easier time finding the 2010 Upstairs Downstairs. Getting all the episodes--in good quality!--of the original series can be a complicated process. Some episodes were aired in the UK but not the US, some official versions have credits cut or are in poor condition. I was lucky enough to catch the whole thing, or almost all, in reruns on TV once. But if you hunt around in the right places, you might hit the jackpot! Who knows ( ... )

Great, thanks for all the info! Right now I have no time for another show, but as soon as we finish one of those that we're watching, I'm going after this one!
