US government stops defending the Defence of Marriage Act

President Obama, in a major legal policy shift, has directed the Justice Department to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act - the 1996 law that bars federal recognition of same-sex marriages - against lawsuits challenging it as unconstitutional.

I've been doing a happy dance all day. And what makes it sweeter is that all the money the Mormons sunk into Prop8 has gone down the drain.

I'm glad Obama is accomplishing the things we got him there for. :D :D

I know loads of liberals are whining about how he hasn't done nearly enough, but let's face it, the gov't works pretty slow. At least he's the only candidate who actually *wanted* to accomplish those things.
