this may seem harsh but its not meant to, im just curious... are you really as insensitive as you say when it comes to picking up on the signs people give off when they are trying to get close to you, or is that a protective mechanism that you've developed and use as an excuse to get to a certain point in a relationship and then feign ignorance?
