HALP!
I've fallen down the financial equivalent of a "K Hole"!
Let's just say that things are getting dicey with my father. I am trying to move fast to liquidate his stocks into cash.
Here's the problem: So far I have found no less than 11 separate accounts, some in his name, some in my mom's name, some in both, and with different brokerages. I have no statements for these accounts more recent than 2005. I found many, many dividend checks that were never cashed, and those are only the ones I have found.
I hired a broker to do the transfers into one account that we can then work with. She is close to tears by this point, it is such a mess. We have been on the phone every half hour all day.
The good news: progress has been made. One account is more than double the money on the last statement we had. Despite the market the last few years.
But if I hadn't just gone and worked out to the point that my biceps and chest feel like ground beef I would be a total freak right now.
