Ah, Boston

The Boston weekend was a great success all the way around. Legal and financial issues for my parents were addressed, family time was spent, and some personal time as well (which was much needed). I had the great pleasure of being entertained by eric_mathgeek and his partner. As ever, it is great to get "in the flesh" time with someone I've known from LJ for years but haven't had the chance to meet. I hope to repeat the experience sometime soon.

Boston is always a bit of an odd experience for me. I left 18 years ago, and while some things are the same the changes are also very obvious. This confuses me, as my memories are a bit frozen in time, so when I turn a corner and see a new building or a formerly slummy area that is now high end housing it stops me dead for a moment while I update the mental data files. Boston was the home of my coming out process, so in some ways it is a bit of an emotional landmine field for me - things remind me of some great and painful times. Fortunately, I am starting to build new associations with the place now, and it is not quite so fraught. I did laugh at myself when someone suggested I go to Club Cafe for a drink. That was the only gay bar I had the courage to go to back in the day, and it is where I met my first boyfriend. Going in that place would be the equivalent of indulging in a bad case of post-traumatic stress episodes. I gave it a pass.

The Eagle and the Ramrod were fun though. Especially the Ramrod. I do need to get myself some new leather though - leather that fits properly. I can squeeze into my pants, but I lose some circulation to the private parts, and that sort of defeats the whole purpose.

Now I have to put in an honest week's work. Last week was only three days for me - I'm not sure how this five-day thing is going to work out. I'll be twitching by Wednesday, no doubt. Today is an off-day at the gym for me, so I am already sort of twitching. Gym days are the best ones for me as I get my nervous energy exorcised at my lunch hour. Today I won't have that, so by 5:00 I'll be bouncing like a rubber ball. I am avoiding coffee today as a result LOL.

Well, back to it. Hope you are all doing well. Happy Monday.
