We all have those days.
You know, the sort of day where you understand the mind-state of people with unusual professions or lifestyles because your day bears striking similarities.
Today I understand how a trannie hooker feels standing by the West Side Highway on Christmas morning waiting for any potential customers who might come by. No johns might appear, or many could suddenly show up, but one way or another it's a pretty bleak morning.
Can you tell I am freezing cold and have only the worst of administrative work to do at the moment?
This is what a lack of sleep coupled with a frigid work environment (with a rather dramatic but very gloomy autumn sky over New York Harbor) can do. The view from my work area is unparalleled but all that sky on a day like this can be both dreary and amazing. Today it looks cold though it really isn't so bad outside.
The visit with hubby's family is going swimmingly but I am getting worn out by all the evenings out during the school week. Only five more nights like this to go! I think even hubby will get worn down in the end. It is a lot of family time over a two week period. Still, due to them living in England and hubby and I living here you have to work with what you have to make the best of things. I don't think hubby had seen his brother in two years.
Next week they all take off with hubby to Cape Cod for most of the week, and I will sink into blissful solitude. If I didn't have to go to work I might never leave the house - I would even take the cats to the vets to board them for a week so I could truly relax!
It would serve the little malignant buggers right.
I am disappointed that the weather has turned bad for the weekend, as we are planning an early Halloween up in the country this weekend. They traditionally don't do Halloween in England (though some people have started celebrating it due to the influence of American films and TV shows), so even though it is early in the month we are going to do pumpkin carving on Saturday and a Haunted Hayride and corn maze at night. Again, the outdoor activities are "weather permitting." His siblings are intensely excited about this, never having done anything like it.
Sacrifice goats to the god or gods of your choice that the weather holds stable for the night.
Now if only I had some lovely, warm, fingerless gloves to use here in the office so that my hands could continue typing. It is so cold that the workings in the backs of my hands are seized up and my hands are barely operating. I really need to find those gloves!
One more day to go ...
health,
cats,
family,
work
