Cameron Hodge entered the Genoshan compound, paying no attention to the faceless guards that surrounded the facilities. He did not stop at his small laboratory that was housed here, or his office and his computer and his answering machine. He did not even go to Graydon Creed’s office. He went immediately to the Albert chamber. He knew Creed would ( Read more... )

”Target lost. Sensors malfunctioning. Reestablishing power. Reacquiring Target. Scanning…”

I tossed a small rock down the road to catch their attention. Their heads momentarily turned and I bolted to circle around them.

”Target not to be found. Calculating trajectory of projectile. 98.35% probability object thrown originated from behind the mailbox.”

The foremost sentinel opened its mouth a fired a ball of energy toward my former hiding place and the mailbox exploded. Shrapnel flew in all directions and a piece gashed my left arm; needless to say, it hurt like a bitch. I fought through the pain trying not to make too much noise and reached Psylocke.

“Come on, we gotta go.”

I gently lifted her up and had her lean on me for support. We began hobbling away from the sentinels.

“Secondary Target Lost. Resume original programming. Reacquire mutant Psylocke.”

The remaining five sentinels turned around to see us running and opened fire.

“Crap, these bastards are getting annoying. We need an escape route.”

I looked around for something, anything I could use. A billboard for an Acura TL, perfect. I pulled it into existence and quickly put Psylocke in and floored it. They continued firing as we drove away. But they weren’t flying after us, whatever made them land in the first place must still be affecting them. Thanking my good luck I drove for a good 30 minutes before slowing down. Psylocke was unconscious by this time and I knew we had to attend to our wounds soon. I stopped in a newly built neighborhood that apparently wasn’t opening up for another week. Lucky. I picked the lock of the backdoor of one of the model homes and brought Psylocke inside and set her down on the couch and finally began to relax a little. I took the small towel that was hanging in the kitchen to stop the bleeding of my arm. Once she woke up, we could plan our next move. See if we could find the others, and find out if Magneto was anywhere near.

It was a long day.
