Come. Don't be an idiot. Goon at a bar? Caaaaammaaaaaan.
By the way, a quick recap. Easter weekend was a while ago, but i've written up a quick recap of the events of what was quite possibly the best weekend of the year so far. Incredible stuff.
My easter weekend started early, keep that in mind.
Wednesday:
Douglas met me at my work at about 5ish, and we went for a quick pot at the pub, shortly before wandering towards Chinatown to find the nearest 7-11 to acquire slurpees to put our vodka in. We had them, then went in search of Chinese food, and found an awesome place. Me and ol Fascist are planning to write a guide called "The best seedy restaurants in Melbourne", and this one had seediness in spades. Food was great though, and very cheap. We only got through half of our 7 dollar mains and it tasted very good. Loaded with MSG and fat without a doubt, but I was impressed. After that we purchased another bottle of vodka, headed to N2C and consumed it while playing Metal Slug 3. We then went to my house in search of my ID, which we found, so we headed to the Palace in Camberwell and met 2 of our other friends. Played some pool, drank some more beer, and went home. Mostly uneventful, but a fair bit of fun.
Thursday:
Met Douglas, Lou and Clare at Parliament station at 5:30. Little did I know the night of TORMENT and HELL that awaited me (NB: It was actually a freakin awesome night). We started off by heading in the general Flinders direction and we ended up near 6 Links, which is where we went for a while. After a few drinks we got hungry and the girls, being as lame as girls are, opted for some kind of tapas like thing in Degraves Street while me and Douglas went to Lord of the Fries. We met up about half an hour later and then went to 6 Links again to plot out our next adventure. At about 8:30 we left off to go down Flinders Lane and see what wonderful things awaited us there. We went to a place called Icon, which was actually quite good. Drinks were fairly cheap (2.50 pots from memory, and it wasn't happy hour, 2$ when it was), music wasn't awful (they threw in some old school hip hop which was really cool, but there was a fair bit of techno) and the seats were comfy. Plus you could smoke. Farking zing. Of course, we were there earlyish, i've been there after that night and it's ridiculously packed after about 10. But, for the time being, it was a very nice place. Clare continually complained about my smoking, and Douglas being the social smoker he was kept begging for a cigarette everytime Clare turned her back. We ended up going for 'boy time' so we could share one. When we came back in, there was about 8 angry looking young men crowded around Clare and Lou. I managed to wedge myself down next to Lou but Douglas couldn't get anywhere near Clare so we had to sit and bare it. I gave some guy a Davidoff and that calmed the mood and we chatted to them for quite a while. Me and Douglas then went to get more drinks (it was nearing the end of happy hour, which was some random time like 9-11 here) and we saw a guy ordered 25 pots. Like, literally, not jugs, actually 25 pots. We helped him carry them back and he gave me and Douglas two each, which was awesome of him. After that Douglas saw 2 hot door girls and decided to put the moves on so me, Clare and Lou went next door. Douglas followed briefly but then said the music was too loud (which is was, jesus freaking christ my ear drums nearly died) so he left. The drinks were crazy expensive here so I only bought one round and then the girls went to dance so I just kinda stood nearby leaning against the wall. The next bit is a bit sketchy and probably not good for public consumption but i'm sure if you know me or want to know then you can get it out of me, or whatever. But yeah, I spose this is kinda where the night ends. Douglas had a sook about something or other and walked away for an hour, we found him, went to Transport Bar for all of 5 minutes and then went back to Icon, which was ridiculously, stupidly packed. We got the last tram back to Douglas's (which was fucking awesome, there was this anti-homo guy on there arguing with two drunk 19-20 year olds about straight guys have it so hard) and then some stuff happened, and yeah. I do remember drinking as many alterations on a CS Cowboy as possible, including a CrownS Cowboy (crown and schnapps) and a Vodka CS Cowboy (a normal CS with a shot of vodka at the same time). Douglas went for a walk at like 7am and me and Clare went to sleep. That was about that.
Friday:
Not a lot happened here, met up with Kate at the palace. Was good fun. Drank a bit, smoked a lot. Etc.
Saturday:
TASKEEN ARRIVED. Nuff said, really. I woke up to him calling me going "Lets meet up what's cool in Melbourne where are the shoes" so I hastily threw on clothes and went to Flinders, only to get a call saying "I'm somewhere near Telstra Dome, am I near Collins Street?" which is where his hotel was. I was trying to direct him but in the end he just got a cab. So I met up with him, we went out for yum cha, came to mine and that's about it until the evening. We had an AWESOME Vietmanese dinner at Mekong in the city, then met up with Kate and went to Lounge. The most awesome part of the night was when we were sitting there and a massive metal bar fell from the roof, knocking some poor Asian chick on her ass. She looked not in a good way, but she seemed alright eventually. So much for stable roofs. After that, we bid Kate adieu and me and Taskeen headed over to 6 Links, where Taskeen got heavily trashed. At once stage he tried to drop an ice cube in my beer before falling off his chair onto the ground, much to the amusement of myself. At about 11:45 I decided we should have a smoke and I should go, so we went outside and freestyled to randoms for 15 minutes before I departed. As soon as I got on the train I get a call going "MY PARENTS AREN'T AT THE HOTEL COME BACK" so I jumped off at Melbourne Central and saw that the last train came at 1:20. What followed was a 2 minute wait for a tram before I literally sprinted from MC to 6 Links. I got there and all I could muster was "Beer, now, yes". Not much else happened, apart from me falling asleep on the train.
Sunday:
More food escapades and making beats at mine, before family lunch (including Taskeen for whatever reason) and then we were off to meet Douglas. 6 Links was closed so we headed to lounge, and after realising upstairs at lounge is for faggots due to it's crowdedness and disgracefully shit techno/house extravagansa we went downstairs where they were playing Naughty By Nature, De La Soul, KRS-One and various break mixes. It was much better. Taskeen dared me to drink a cocktail with a cigarette in it, and I did just that. It was bloody terrible but I scored a vodka and cranberry out of it, so hells yeah. We then stumbled to mcdonalds before going to that pub/bar on the corner of Flinders, near Fed Square and getting ourselves a couple of big beers. That place seriously, a scooner is a small beer. Excellent! After that, me and Douglas caught the 6 and Taskeen caught the 5 minute walk to his hotel. And once again, I went home at least partially drunk.
And that's about my weekend. Last weekend was awesome also, for a whole lot of reasons. Dylan Moran and that whole night were good, and Saturday was rad. Hoping this Saturday will live upto it. Eh, Ed?
