Now I don't expect any congratulations, but I'm really happy. I just watched all my footage for 16 mm and for the most part it came out great. I was terrified that I didn't load the film right or that I heavily underexposed--suffice to say there was a lot on my mind. And film's kind of a bitch in that you don't get to see if its okay until you've shot it all and paid the $47 to get each 100 feet roll developed in a lab in New York you have to send it to overnight.
But there were no registration plate problems, no shaky lights, and good exposure. It's not a complete failure after all. I think it's gonna be really good once I get it all edited. The only problem was some slightly out of focus shots, but those could even be the shitty projector I watched it on (it's hard to use the zoom lens and rack focus with one hand, alright?).
Anyways, Jamie and Arie thank you for acting. I look forward to editing this puppy and making it a badass project. I hope someone will watch it.
I gotta go get splicing tape and black leader (to scratch titles on) from home now before I can really start editing, but damn, I think this thing has potential. It's exciting to be making a movie again, even if it is only a 5 minute short.
'Twill be the shizzlebitbapsnizzlesnapsack!
Okay, I'm excited now, but I have to keep moving. I still have to have the rough cut done in 8 hours for class, and then I work tomorrow night from 5-12 and have a 10-page paper to write that's due Friday morning. While things are far from over, I'm happy to reassert that I'm not officially fucked at all.
Peace to the world until I resurface Monday afternoon. And good luck to all you other kids on your own personal finals Hells.
