Paternal A-holes

As much as it pains me to say it, sometimes, my dad can be a fucking asshole. What the hell is it with some men that think they can say and do whatever the hell they want with complete impunity? That's one of the things I don't miss about being home, witnessing my dad go on one of his assholish tirades like a spoilt brat. On the flip side, I'm glad ( Read more... )

Technically yes, but I know he would never ever kick me out of the house, nor threaten it. It was more so that I would walk out the house and never need return, push comes to shove.

Once upon the time that was the case of my mom, as would be the case of many other moms. But many years ago that changed, and a big part of that was due to Christ. As much as she wanted to walk away, she saw fit to stay because she believed that it was her role to save him. To change him and that the only way she could do this, was to soldier through the pain, and lead by example.

To show courage, strength, and patience in the face of adversity. This is why I love and admire her strength so much. Because I would have taken out a rolling pin long ago and clobbered him, ala cartoon style.

And over recent years, especially with the onset of type 2 diabetes, my mom forced a nasty diet on his and regular exercise in an effort to stave it off and save his life. And that was so hard, because he acted so damn unappreciative and accused her of making his life harder. Again, she wanted to walk away, but she sucked it up and put his health before her own. And now, the results are so astonishing even the doctors are amazed.

Faith, will, spirit, and resolve. With these things there is nothing can cannot be accomplished.

P.S: Cats are bastards... they'll probably break my will far before I break theirs :P
