Wow! I've not posted since April 3rd! I'm a real LJ Bastard!
So, Since April 3rd I've gotten engaged to DeLyle. Yay! And I've started the project I was pining for in my last entry. It's working title is The Trial of Amos Davidson and is a novel about a faith journey. I wanted to write a story about someone's spiritual path that wasn't my own but reflects my own relationship with and understanding of faith. I'm also continuing my recurring theme of humanizing the clergy in this story as the title character begins the story as young and popular minister at a mega-church in Orlando. The story deals with his fall and rise. I've got the first two acts mapped out, and have only a very vague idea of the third act, but so far things are going swimmingly.
I'm working on a semi-regular writing schedule, actually thinking about it as being work, rather than a hobby. I've discovered that I work best when I begin in the morning (after coffee) in a quiet place, away from the house, and away from the internet. I've accomplished this by going to libraries and taking our laptop but not connecting to their ISP.
At first I was setting a weekly goal for myself of 1000 words, but I've been matching that so now I'm thinking 3000 words. Since I'm probably only going to do this three days a week that is a perfectly reasonable goal and any more is cake. At the end of business today there was a total of 5951 words. I'm going to try to hit 7000 tomorrow and 11,000 by the end of next week.
